    Hi @stark

Unfortunately, WPFTS does not work with PODS custom fields "from the box", so custom code exists somewhere. I think your developer used another way to add data to the search index.

We need to ask him or alternatively, I could check your code myself, it should not be too long. In this case please send me admin access to your resource using a private message.

    Thanks.

    Hi @marcellosalass

Actually WPFTS could be not that great for you in case you have millions of records (e.g. posts).
The whole Wordpress could be not good for you either, because to handle such amount of data you will need to use specific optimization and caching algorithms and even clustering.

I would like to propose you to use full-text solutions based on Apache Solr or Elastic Search - those tools are implemented in Java and work way faster than PHP+MySQL solution provided by WPFTS and they are especially good for big data.

Alternatively you can wait until we release a new WPFTS version (in 1-2 months) that can use self-hosted Elastic Search engine to keep full-text index and uses WPFTS data collecting algorithms.

    Thank you for the question.

If you're not seeing this issue, my guess is that your external files are stored under the same domain as your WP instance. Our download files are accessed from a different domain. Our site is fcm.org, and the download files are served from a bitwarden.com domain.

    Hi @Felipe-Farinho

    Obrigado!

    Hi @Simply_Friend

Thank you for the question. Actually it's not planned to be added to the plugin core, because this feature (search by date FROM - TO) is already implemented in WP Native search (in WP_Query()).

So you can search with date using WP_Query parameter date_query.

    Here is the topic: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/classes/wp_query/#date-parameters

Another question is if you want date picker fields to be added next to the text query field in the search widget.

This is fairly easy to do for the average WP developer. There are probably some visual constructors to do this, but I can’t recommend anything here - if you find a solution, please write. It will be useful for other users.

We don't plan to add a search form builder to the core functionality of WPFTS because we don't want to compete with Elementor / Beaver Builder / Visual Builder etc etc, although we will probably do a detailed tutorial on how to use the builders to make a search widget with additional fields.

    Hope this helped you.

    Thanks!

This bug (definitely a bug!) was fixed in version 1.68.232
We made "ident" field in the new wpftsi_irules table shorter (limited from 255 to 130) to avoid VARCHAR index length overflow.

    Thanks, @lostconcerts !

@EpsilonAdmin My last message unfortunately didn't reach you. I've installed the new version but still have the same issue. The indexing is stuck at 5.92% again. Can you help me with this? Regards, Fred.

@EpsilonAdmin Thanks for quick response and question.
Yes, my hope was to use the standard WP search widget - but I haven't explored any other option. If there's a better way I'm happy to get guidance 😀

My site has been recently re-created in WordPress after quite a few years of running under Joomla and that Joomla installation had a free plugin called jiFiles (?) which did the document scanning/indexing. A standard search, scoped on file name or a string from within file content, would pull up a list of file names each hyperlinked to the file itself to easily click on for in-browser viewing (or possibly downloading).

I appreciate that there are other WordPress plugins that offer a full document management system but they have a much larger feature set than I need and are also majorly expensive for a small non-profit community web site.

Hi @EpsilonAdmin thanks for your prompt response and sorry for my late response.

Unfortunately the site owner didn't approved the re-activation of the plugin. But I will use it on other sites soon.

    Thanks for all your efforts!

@Qville I have tried with the Pen theme, tried to activate and deactivate WPFTS Pro on my dev machine, but unfortunately I can not repeat the issue that you faced with. The posts on the main page are always ordered by "Publication Date (descending order)" does not matter whether WPFTS active or not.

Could you please try once more to activate WPFTS and deactivate it on your website and see if there any differences? Could you make a screenshot or give me a link to your website?

Here is the accordion.php code that creates the faq entries.

    accordion.php.txt

I added the code from the documentation to my function.php in the child theme, but of course this is not a post type I'm dealing with, but a page with an add-on.

    /** * This snippet adds metadata of "employee" post to search index */ add_filter('wpfts_index_post', function($index, $post) { global $wpdb; // Basic tokens /* * This piece of code was commented out intentionally to display things * which was already done before in the caller code $index['post_title'] = $post->post_title; $index['post_content'] = strip_tags($post->post_content); */ if ($post->post_type == 'employee') { // Adding new token "employee_data" specially for posts of type "employee" $data = array(); $data[] = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'address', true); $data[] = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'phone', true); $data[] = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'name', true); $data[] = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'function', true); $index['employee_data'] = implode(' ', $data); } return $index; }, 3, 2);

    Hi @ALG1970

    Yes, it was another bug.

I've just updated the plugin to version 1.59.211 that should fix the issue.

The "_tp" table should not grow anymore.

Also this should not make any additional load to the server.

Please update WPFTS and give it another chance.

Thank you, let me know if this goes fine now.

    Hi @cantuaria

Please tell me which version of the plugin do you use? Could you tell me if you have activated Deeper Search option and do you use an Index Optimizer (latest option on the Main Page).

    Thanks!

Thanks. I've already deactivated other search plugins. We are creating everything from a scratch with elementor using "hello elementor".
I'll install the patch asap and I'll let you know.
