2. Installation and Activation

WP Fast Total Search (WPFTS) can be installed in two ways: through the WordPress plugin directory or manually.

Installing via the WordPress Plugin Directory

  1. In your WordPress admin panel, go to “Plugins” -> “Add New”.

  2. Enter “WP Fast Total Search” in the search field.

  3. Find the plugin in the search results and click the “Install Now” button.

  4. After installation, click the “Activate” button.

Manual Installation

  1. Download the plugin archive from the official WordPress.org website or the developer’s website.

  2. Unzip the archive.

  3. Upload the fulltext-search folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory on your server.

  4. In your WordPress admin panel, go to the “Plugins” section.

  5. Find the “WP Fast Total Search” plugin and click the “Activate” button.

After Activation

After activating the plugin, you will see a welcome message on the WPFTS settings page (if this is the first installation). This message will prompt you to start indexing your site’s content. It is strongly recommended to perform indexing immediately after activation so that WPFTS search starts working. To start indexing, click the “Start Indexing” button in the welcome message, or go to the WPFTS settings page and start the indexing manually. Your site may run slower during indexing. Performance will return to normal after indexing is complete.

Important

  • Ensure your server meets the plugin’s minimum requirements (PHP, MySQL, and WordPress versions).

  • The plugin requires permissions to create tables in the database to function correctly.
